5 Reasons You Aren’t Losing Belly Fat

When you set out to live a healthier, better life, part of your goal was to shed that belly fat that has plagued you all these years. However, try as
you may, it sticks around like a bad habit. While extra belly fat is a deterrent to your self-confidence, it comes with an array of serious health
dangers as well. From increased risk for cancer to heart disease to diabetes, unwanted belly bulge puts your life at risk every day.

If you’ve been struggling to kiss it goodbye, it may be for one of these five reasons.

Reason #1: Your Mediocre Workout

As long as you can remember, medical experts have recommended you get at least 30 minutes of exercise a few days a week. And for good
reason. Much of the industrialized world has cut movement out of their lives in many ways, making it necessary to hit the gym in order to stay fit.
However, if you think 30 minutes of light jogging on the treadmill three days a week is going to get rid of that belly fat, think again. To burn the
flab, you’ll need to add strength training to your routine. Doing this will add muscle to your frame, which will help burn more pounds of fat. It
will also put your muscles where they belong, which helps your belly look flatter.

Reason #2: Your Fork

Getting rid of belly fat can’t only be done in the gym. It requires a lifestyle change that includes being very cautious of what you put in your mouth.
That means cutting out the processed foods, saturated fats, and whatever else is likely to cause fat to cling to your midsection. In case you’re
curious, that includes too much healthy food also. Remember: everything has calories, and if your body doesn’t use it, it’s got to go somewhere,
and your waistline is a likely candidate. But your fork isn’t the only thing that matters. Not drinking enough water is a sure recipe for belly fat. After
all, there’s a reason a pudgy front is called a beer belly.

Reason #3: Your Stress Levels

When you feel stressed, it’s because something in your life is going on and you simply can’t let go of it until it’s resolved. Unfortunately, when you
don’t let go of stress, fat doesn’t let go of you. It’s due to the chemical cortisol, which is released by your body when you’re facing stress. Harmless
as a hormone may seem, this one kicks your appetite into gear and may even make it harder for your body to shed fat. So relax and help your

Going to sleep is not exciting. Doing it feels like you’re doing nothing. But when you’re in the battle against the belly bulge, getting quality sleep
every night is key. How important is it? When researchers concluded 16 years of research into the health of nearly 70,000 women, they saw that
the women who slept five or fewer hours every night were at a 30-percent increased risk for gaining 30 pounds than those who got seven hours of
shuteye on a nightly basis.

4 Simple Ways to Eat Clean

By now you are probably aware that the term, eat clean, has nothing to do with washing your food and has everything to do with eating in a way
that promotes fat loss.

While it may sound simple enough, it's pretty challenging to stick with a clean eating plan. I suppose if it were easy then everyone would be lean
and confident about their body.

So what's the secret to long-term, clean eating success? Here it is...

How-To-Eat-Clean Secret #1: Keep It Balanced So many fat loss strategies out there encourage eating only from one category of food: soup,
grapefruit, salad, chicken breast...While these foods may promote fat loss and reduce overall calorie intake, this way of eating sets you up for a

No one sticks with highly restrictive, one-food-only diets for very long, and you're no exception. To make your clean eating plan last, keep your
diet balanced with a range of healthy, real foods.

How-To-Eat-Clean Secret #2: Don't Put a Label On It How many times have you uttered the words I'm on a diet? Ugh, just saying that puts one in
the mood to cheat on said diet.

If eating clean means you're on a diet, then you're not committed enough to make this a way of life. True fat loss success comes when clean
eating is second nature, and not a temporarily imposed sentence.

How-To-Eat-Clean Secret #3: Have Patience Wouldn't it be great if a week of clean eating could erase a decade worth of indulgences? But, alas,
you didn't gain that fat in a week, and you won't lose it in a week either.

Look for, and acknowledge, each and every small victory along the way to your long-term goal. Notice each pound, each inch and each pant size.
These accomplishments build on one another until you reach your ultimate goal. Just remember that big changes take consistent, long-term effort.

How-To-Eat-Clean Secret #4: Have a Plan This is the most important step in your clean eating quest, without it you'll flounder around without
direction and will likely find yourself starting into the bottom of a bowl of ice cream. Spend time writing out your do's and don't's for your clean

Unfortunately all that indulgence typically leads to a pound gained for each day that you're away.

To help you combat these unwanted pounds, I've identified the 5 main reasons that people gain weight on vacation, as well as your strategic plan
of avoidance.

Reason #1: Not Having A Plan
Let's face it, the vacation mindset is a set-up for gaining pounds. Your priority is to relax, and for most that means eating, resting and forgetting
the gym.

Your best line of defense is to keep your fitness goals at the forefront of your mind.

Your Plan: Before you leave for your trip sit down and set a goal.

A realistic goal is to maintain your current weight or to lose a pound or two.

The simple act of bringing your fitness goal to mind before leaving on your trip will greatly reduce your chances of coming home heavier.

Reason #2: Indulgent Snacking
There's nothing like a vacation to cause you to throw all caution to the wind with indulgent snacking.

Ice cream in the middle of the day, frozen coffee drinks topped with whipped cream, salty bags of chips and even a visit through a fast food drive

While these snacks may be fun, the damage will quickly catch up to you.

Your Plan: Approach your trip with the strategy of indulging with control.

If you really must have a sweet treat, then make it small and follow it up with a balanced, protein-filled meal.

Another way to reduce indulgent snacking is to bring along your own healthy options.

Dried or fresh fruit, unsalted nuts, health bars, cut veggies and low fat jerky are a good start.

By filling up on these healthy snacks you will end up eating less when presented with a sweet or salty treat.

Reason #3: Forgetting Portion Control
You have no choice but to dine out while on vacation and whether you're visiting 5 star restaurants or fast food diners, you're going to face the
same problem: large portions.

While the easiest thing to do with a big plate of food is to simply eat it all—you are on vacation after all...right?—that isn't the best for your waist.

Your Plan: Decide here and now that you will not indulge in large portions.

When you order your meal ask the waiter or waitress to bring you a to-go box. Take half of your meal and place it safely into the box before you
even begin to eat.

This gives you no choice but to eat a healthy portion.

If you would rather not carry around a to-go box then ask that your entrée be made into a smaller portion. If it is dinnertime ask for the lunch-sized

Reason #4: Eating Too Late
Who really wants to go to bed early while on vacation? The days stretch long and undoubtedly end with a nice big dinner.

All these calories, eaten right before bed, will quickly land around your waist.

Your Plan: Simply stop eating 3 hours before you go to bed.

This easy trick is especially effective while on vacation.

So skip that late night indulgence and wake up looking and feeling great.

Reason #5: Not Exercising Enough (Or At All)
Oh, groan, do I really have to exercise while on vacation?

Yes, you do! That is if you want to look and feel younger and more alive.

Too often exercise is looked at as work, but vacations are the perfect time to really enjoy a good workout.

You won't be rushing home, trying to squeeze in a few minutes at the gym, but rather the vacation workout can be a relaxing and enjoyable

Your Plan: Look at vacation workouts as a treat, and make it a priority.

Here are some ideas:
•Virtually every hotel these days has some type of workout room equipped with cardio machines, dumbbells and a universal machine, so make
good use out of it.
•Vacations are also a great time to take your workout outdoors; take a run on the beach or do sprints, pushups and crunches on a grassy field. If
you want more ideas of workouts you can do using just your body weight then give me a call or send me an email.
•Make a conscious effort to be active everyday. Go on a brisk walk after your day's activities. This is a great way to see a new city, and also a
great way to burn off extra calories. Take the stairs instead of elevator in your hotel and any other buildings you visit.
•Go on a short jog in the mornings or evenings of your stay. If your hotel has a pool, swim a few laps each morning or evening.

7 Reasons Why You Can't Lose Weight

There are few things more frustrating than not being able to lose weight.

You want to be slimmer and to tone your body, but your weight won't budge.

Read the following 7 Weight Loss Blockers to discover what is standing in your way and how to quickly and easily begin your weight loss journey.

Blocker #1: Your Mind

Your mind is your number one ally when it comes to achieving your goals. However, until your mind has been programmed for success, it will do
more to derail your efforts than to help you.
Take a few moments each day to visualize yourself at your ideal weight. Imagine how it feels to look the way you've always wanted.
Protect your mind from any negative self talk. If a negative thought comes to mind, immediately reject it.
You want to be thin and fit, and yet you think of yourself as out-of-shape and fat. Re-program your mind to think of yourself as fit and attractive,
and you will be well on your way toward achieving your goal.
Give up the belief that you can't achieve the body you've always dreamed of. See it first in your mind, and then in the mirror.
Blocker #2: Your Fear

Change makes most of us nervous – even if it is a change in the right direction. You may not be consciously aware of the fear you have of getting
into shape. Until you conquer this fear, your weight loss efforts will be blocked by self sabotage.

Professional speaker and author, Anthony Robbins, has outlined three specific beliefs that you must have in order to conquer your fear and
instantly create a lasting change.
Believe that something MUST change. You can't be wishy-washy about it. You can't be considering it. You can't even be pretty sure about it.
You've got to be rock solid.
Believe that YOU must change it. You can't pass the buck of responsibility and expect to lose weight. It's on your shoulders. Other people will
prove to be great assets in your journey, but in the end you are the one who is going to make it happen. You have to want this weight loss enough
to make it your personal mission.
Believe you CAN change it. You may have failed in the past, but that doesn't matter. When you put your mind to it, you're able to do amazing
things. Do you believe that you are capable of losing weight? Once you own the belief that you can, you'll be unstoppable.
Blocker #3: Your Excuses

Your excuses for being out-of-shape are getting old. An excuse takes less immediate effort than an action, but in the long run the action taker
always has the advantage. Don't allow excuses to ruin your life any longer.
Don't skip out on your responsibilities with excuses, instead expect more from yourself.
Focus on the big reason why you are losing the weight. Make a list of the benefits you'll enjoy once you achieve your goal, and read them first
thing each morning.
Remember that you can only have two things in life: excuses or results. Which do you want?
Blocker #4: Your Commitment

How many times have you tried to lose weight, only to give up a week or two later? We live in a commitment-phobic world, so it's no wonder that
you routinely abandon your goals. If you truly want to lose weight then your commitment to the process is a must.
The margin between success and failure is bridged by your commitment. Don't give up until your goal has been achieved.
Treat exercise with the same importance as a work meeting, and you'll never skip it at the last minute. Find three available 60-minute time slots in
your schedule and mark them (in pen) on your calendar. Now stick to your schedule.
If you don't give up, then you'll never fail.
Blocker #5: Your Diet

If you consistently eat the wrong food, then you're weight loss efforts will all be in vain. To put it bluntly, you need to stop eating junk. Processed
foods, refined sugar and high fructose corn syrup do not belong in your diet if you want to be in great shape. Cut these items out of your diet and
replace them with real whole foods like lean meats, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and fruits.
Don't eat processed foods. Even though processed foods are accepted by our society, they contain tons of chemicals and empty calories that will
make you sick and fat.
Fat contains twice the caloric density of protein and carbohydrates, so make sure to limit the amount that you consume. Eat lots of lean proteins
and wholesome carbohydrates from plants and whole grains.
Vegetables, whole grains, fruits, nuts and seeds are filled with fiber and antioxidants which are vital for healthy weight loss. Snack on these
instead of packaged treats.
Blocker #6: Your Patience

It takes time to transform your body from fat to fit, even though you want it to happen overnight. Remind yourself that it took time to put the weight
on, so it will take time to take the weight off. When you find your patience wavering, or when you encounter a frustrating plateau, do the following:
Review your goal. Is it specific and measurable? Is it small and attainable, rather than monumental? Focus on your goal when the going gets
Make each workout a new experience. Challenge your body with different resistance, new exercises and a varied pace.
Remember that anyone can have one great workout, but that won't get you the body you want. The only way to achieve your goal is by
consistently exercising and eating right, plain and simple.
Blocker #7: Your Support

People who exercise alone are less challenged, less accountable and are more likely to fail. It makes sense. Who would rush to the gym if no one
is was waiting for them? Who would push themselves if no one was paying attention? Exercising alone is a recipe for disaster.
